Summary

Collection consists of Adele Mowton DuBreuil's diploma from the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (now, Parsons School of Design) in advertising display, a black and white photographic portrait of her after graduation, and 24 small, black and white photographic prints depicting her student graphic design work, 1917-1919. Most of the designs are advertisements for consumer goods; two are World War One propaganda posters.

Mary Adrienne Steckling Coen (1934-2006) graduated from Parsons School of Design's Fashion Design Department in 1958. In 1966, "Adri" --her professional name-- created her own line, designing under her own labels for the rest of her career. The records document Adri's professional life, with items arranged by year and season. Includes clippings and tear sheets, photographs, press kits, sketches, swatches, and video recordings.

Summary Arnold Eagle (1909-1992) emigrated to New York from Hungary in 1929. He became a documentary photographer in the 1930s and, in 1945, he was hired by Standard Oil of New Jersey to produce a visual record of the benefits of oil in the lives of everyday Americans, and, in the process, created a broad photographic record of American life during the 1940s. Summary Bob Adelman (1930-2016) studied photography with Alexey Brodovitch at The New School in the 1950s and became one of the photographers regularly documenting the life of the New School in the 1970s and 1980s. American fashion designer Bonnie Cashin (1908-2000) had a longstanding partnership with manufacturer Philip Sills and Co., spanning 1953 into the mid-1970s. This collection represents 65 fashion photographs, some with accompanying press releases, from 1967-1968.

Summary

Interior decorator Bruce Buttfield (1897-1969) made his mark in the 1930s by creating distinctive furniture and rooms. In 1931, he designed the interior of the original Whitney Museum building on Eighth Street in New York City. The collection includes photographs and color renderings of Buttfield interiors.
